A key State Department figure is out after purportedly "clashing" with the leader of the agency, Marco Rubio.

Pete Marocco was "a key architect of the Trump administration’s campaign to slash foreign aid has left the State Department," but he has now been let go after "less than three months on the job," according to the Wall Street Journal's report.

Marocco reportedly "oversaw the closure of the U.S. Agency for International Development and briefly led the foreign-assistance mission at the State Department." Marocco also "worked closely with billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency and at times clashed with Secretary of State Marco Rubio," according to the exclusive report.

According to the outlet, "A senior administration official confirmed Marocco’s departure." “He is no longer at State,” the official said, according to the Wall Street Journal. Some officials have claimed Marocco simply completed his job, but the report suggests the firing was a surprise to him.
