Trump authorizes U.S. military to begin occupation of federal land along southern border

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump late Friday signed a memorandum directing several agencies to start militarizing a stretch of the southern border, an escalation of the administration’s use of the U.S. military amid its immigration crackdown.

The move, which The Washington Post first reported last month, could potentially put U.S. military members in direct contact with migrants, a possible violation of federal law.

The memo directs the Interior Department to allow the Defense Department to have jurisdiction over portions of federal land known as the Roosevelt Reservation, excluding any Native American reservations.

By creating a military buffer zone that stretches across the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona, California and New Mexico, it means any migrant crossing into the United States would be trespassing on a military base, therefore allowing active-duty troops to hold them until U.S. Border Patrol agents arrive.

Didn't he recently threaten to invade, which caused Sheinbaum to declare they wouldn't tolerate that? The question is, how's he gonna invade Mexico and start a war with Iran at the same time? He seems to think that Mexico is a push over. just like Ukraine was thought to be weak. They'll get help from China. And, Iran? They'll get help from Russia. You know those two countries are partners. He's going to get a lot of us killed.

And, Congress is just sitting around, worried about Teslas and stuff like that. Since we don't have any friends left, whose going to help us?

I despise this guy. And, I'm a vet who didn't vote for him. He's a clown show. He's an idiot with no heart, and a bully who doesn't care about his troops or OUR country. If I were vance, I'd NEVER agree to run and have him as my VP, so I could give him control of the country for a third term. I think he sees musk as a sort of experiment of how that might work. vance can look forward to being killed, if he does. Not by a member of the working citizenry, for sure. Not us. We wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. But, we wouldn't cry, either. But, I think he means it. He's gonna try for a third term. We'll all be learning Spanish by then. See how that works?
