Trump's budget plan eviscerates weather and climate research, and it could be enacted immediately
Source: CNN
The Trump administration intends to eliminate the research arm of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, close all weather and climate labs and eviscerate its budget along with several other NOAA offices, according to internal documents obtained by CNN.
The documents describe the administrations budget proposal for 2026, but indicate the administration expects the agency to enact the changes immediately.
The cuts would devastate weather and climate research as weather is becoming more erratic, extreme and costly. It would cripple the US industries including agriculture that depend on free, accurate weather and climate data and expert analysis. It could also halt research on deadly weather, including severe storms and tornadoes.
The administration intends to make significant cuts to education, grants, research and climate-related programs in NOAA, the plan says, which the administration believes are misaligned with the
expressed will of the American people.

(5,393 posts)Nope. Don't buy it. He didn't win with anything closes to a mandate. In fact, if a little investigation was conducted, I firmly believe we'd discover he stole the election. The People are smart enough to know their climate is changing; they can see, feel, and hear it through their mixed up weather. Only magas may think otherwise, and even some of them here in farm country are wisened up enough about it to be concerned when it comes to their livelihoods. BUT his big multi-billionaire corporate donors don't like it at all; doing something about it could eat into profits, and they can't have that. Of course, when we're all dead because of climate change, their profit margin is going to fall off into the abyss. They're just to stubborn and/or stupid to admit it.

(46,093 posts)With FEMA gone, its not like anyone in the path of a damaging storm will get much help. Pretty soon the only thing people will be able to think of is leaving beautiful young virgins at the gates of Mar a Lago to appease the angry storm god.

(19,594 posts)Florida is in the path of being destroyed by extreme weather. May it hit particular areas and obliterate those sites from existence.
Shutting down the Climate research that NOAA does, basically shuts NOAA down. For the climate information NOAA Sends to the NWS(National Weather Service) and then to localities in the paths of extreme weather impacts the entire country in some manner. Climate impacts ALL life on this earth. But then tRump is too STUPID to know that.
