A House Republican is suing the federal government for $2.5 million, claiming he was retaliated against by the Capitol Police four years ago for his vocal criticism of the departments leadership after the Jan. 6, 2021 attack.
Rep. Troy Nehls unusual lawsuit, filed in federal court in his home state of Texas, accuses the Capitol Police of improperly entering his office in November 2021 and taking pictures of a whiteboard that had notes related to legislation.

(16,617 posts)In October 2008, Nehls was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for his service in Afghanistan in March 2008. In March 2023, the military rescinded the award of the badge to Nehls, because he was not eligible to receive it he was neither an infantryman nor a special forces operator, but was instead a civil affairs officer. The revocation became public in May 2024. Nehls continued to wear the badge, saying that he disagreed with the revocation, and that he believed "this is a concerted effort to discredit my military service and continued service to the American people as a member of Congress." Nehls subsequently stopped wearing the badge owing in large part to these stolen-valor claims against him.

(5,393 posts)instead of thanking the people who probably saved his life, or at least saved him from grave bodily injury, he's gonna sue them for walking into his office and taking pictures to back up whatever their report stated. I think I'd find some way to countersue this ungracious idiot. And of course, it's filed in Texas... home of the most biased judge in America.
