FEMA chief given lie detector test after leak of private meeting
Source: Politico
The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency was given a lie detector test by the Department of Homeland Security to determine if he leaked information about a recent private meeting concerning FEMA, two former senior FEMA officials told POLITICOs E&E News.
The test was given to FEMA acting Administrator Cameron Hamilton after he met March 25 with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski, an adviser to President Donald Trump, those people said. The test was given within two days of the meeting and cleared Hamilton.
DHS acknowledged the test in an email.
Under Secretary Noems leadership, DHS is unapologetic about its efforts to root out leakers that undermine national security. We are agnostic about your standing, tenure, political appointment or status as a career civil servant we will track down leakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin wrote.

(622 posts)Anyone know what this 'leak' supposedly was? My bet is that it was in no way 'national security' related, probably something about budget cuts or how they're going to fuck over blue states in any way possible.

(184 posts)With the FEMA head cleared, that means theres a 100% chance the leaker was Noem or Lewandowski. My money is on the former, trying to thread the political needle by sending out an SOS for a future claim of independence instead of doing the honorable thing: resigning and, in so doing, bravely and publicly disassociating herself from this nonsense.

(29,474 posts)First of all, there are federal whistleblower protection laws. And second, lie detector tests are notoriously ineffective in actually rooting out lies. But this regime has never embraced facts, so why would they start now?
