Kamala Harris On Trump: 'I'm Not Gonna Say I Told You So'

Source: Huff Post

Apr 3, 2025, 11:00 PM EDT

Former Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday pointed out that she warned voters about what would happen under President Donald Trump’s administration. “There were many things we knew were gonna happen,” said Harris, who ran a hurried campaign against Trump in 2024 after then-President Biden dropped out of the race. “I’m not gonna say ‘I told you so,’” she added, to a crowd that then erupted in applause and cheers.

Harris was speaking at the Leading Women Defined Summit in Dana Point, California, and HuffPost obtained a video of her remarks. The summit, founded by former CEO of BET Debra Lee, aims to empower women of color. “This is a very different time than in 2016,” Harris said. “A lot has changed.”

Harris then described what has changed as a result of Trump taking office: progress and policies have been “rolled back,” effective policies have been denied, and a sense of fear has been created in people throughout the country. “We are seeing people stay quiet. We are seeing organizations stay quiet. We are seeing capitulating to clearly unconstitutional threats,” she continued.

Less than 100 days into his second term, Trump has rescinded nearly 80 of Biden’s past executive orders, called for the end of diversity, equity and inclusion programs, approved the layoffs of thousands of federal employees and announced wide-ranging global tariffs that have tanked the stock market, among a litany of other things.

Kamala Harris: “Fear is contagious… but courage is contagious too.”

“The courage to say what is happening is wrong.

The courage to say there is a path forward.

The courage to hold onto the democracy we still have.”

as domestic enemies and a threat to the Constitution. And call for their immediate arrest. That would sure shake the apple cart. First time for everything. The conversation that these two are domestic enemies need to start now. The LOCK THEM UP! chants need to be heard.

She, like Hillary, is absolutely right.

Edited to add: but sadly, for too many in this country, a stupid hateful man is seen as a better leader than a highly competent women.

The problem here is that too many DEMOCRATS did not go out to vote! The small percentage of loss due to the lack of votes would have made a huge difference...all the crap that we are facing today would not even be an issue, none of this would be going on...if but for a few thousand votes. Piss on all those Democrats who were too lazy to vote!

9. Just like in 2016. We could have moved forward and stopped Putin then, but instead we got Putin's man, Trump.

I'm through hoping that the idiots who voted for republicans will see the light. They won't. The idiots in this country think they know best even though they know their world view and their credibility is in tatters. At this point, I'm just going to make fun of them for being so STUPID, ridiculously stupid.

A CNBC panel also discussed why people are surprised. I guess many analysts expected more targeted planning. But we on the left know this administration puts no thought into any of their nonsense.

Those with any sense knew what was going to happen. Those that need to be told are to damn dumb to understand, what is happening. But they will learn, and it is going to be painful.
