Senate GOP not planning to rubber-stamp DOGE cuts in 2026 funding

Source: The Hill

Senate Republicans aren’t planning to be a rubber stamp for President Trump’s sweeping operation to shrink the federal government as lawmakers look to fiscal 2026 funding.

Conservatives in both chambers have been ramping up calls for Congress to codify cuts pursued by Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), particularly as the administration’s efforts encounter roadblocks in court. But Senate Republicans aren’t pushing for a blanket adoption of the administration’s measures in the chamber’s government funding bills for fiscal 2026.

When asked about the idea last week, Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins (R-Maine) told The Hill at the time that “it could be possible that, after careful consideration, we would decide to codify some of them.” However, she added that the efforts shouldn’t be applied “across the board.”

With passage of government funding legislation for fiscal 2025 behind them, lawmakers are beginning to set their sights on the Sept. 30 deadline to prevent a shutdown and fund the government for fiscal 2026.

10. Sounds like a totally meaningless claim. DOGE is performing acts that are the sole purview of Congress, according to

the Constitution. DOGE is undoing legal votes taken in Congress to create and fund government agencies. Only Congress can legally do that, but the GOP majority in Congress is sitting on their hands with their thumbs up their asses doing nothing to reclaim their authority and fulfill their responsibilities. They are not going to rubber stamp actions by DOGE to defund and disband the agencies and functions they voted to establish? What the fuck does that mean? By the time they agree on a budget, if they ever do, it will already be too late.

To grow 10% of a spine and a bit of a conscience and the Senate can bring Donnie’s insurrection to a halt.
I know Lindsey is already pissed over Ukraine, and mist would probably vote for impeachment if the vote could be private.
He is holding his support together with nothing more than fear and threats.
