'Finally Learning': Trump White House Praises Washington Post For 'Overhauling' Its Newsroom

Source: Mediaite.com

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took a moment to “commend” The Washington Post over recent editorial and newsroom changes that have sparked backlash against the outlet.

At a White House press briefing on Tuesday, Leavitt declared that The Washington Post and other “mainstream media” outlets are “finally learning that having disdain for more than half of the country who supports this president does not help you sell newspapers.”

Leavitt said:
I would like to commend The Washington Post who I believe is in the room today. According to a new report from Axios, The Washington Post is overhauling their newsroom structure. It appears that the mainstream media, including The Post, is finally learning that having disdain for more than half of the country who supports this president does not help you sell newspapers. It’s not a very good business model. And that is why we have people in our new media seat.”

Axios obtained a staff memo from executive editor Matt Murray at The Post laying out major newsroom structure changes meant as part of the paper’s larger effort to reach a wider audience and move away from perceptions of being too far left. Jeff Bezos, who owns The Post, made waves last month when he announced drastic changes to The Post and the departure of the paper’s opinion section editor David Shipley after Bezos told him his section would need to prioritize personal liberties and free markets as topics. Despite the editorial changes, The Post’s opinion section has remained critical of President Donald Trump and close ally Elon Musk.

just earned himself a whole new wave of WaPo subscribers cancelling their subscriptions.......
He wants the best of both worlds, he may get alot less than he reckoned for.........

Same for the NYTimes licking the RepubliCONs feet, and kissing Trump's ring.....

I think it is important for both of those papers, and any others, to recognize that the Trumphumpers CAN'T/WON'T READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All so Trump doesn’t meddle in Bezos’ other businesses.

So obvious it’s a bone being thrown.

Lets see if the WP believes that "more than half the country who supports this president" is true

Do they have the journalistic integrity to point out this is factually not true

They will publish that lie

11. The Washington Post could never have been called "too far left" in a sane, free country

It's always been solidly pro-capitalism. it's just had a tradition of opposing corrupt government (not that it has always followed that perfectly). But I've seen idiots call the Financial Times "left wing" too.

oozes her obscene smarmy obsequiousness every day but it seems worse to me on Tuesdays. When she brings her slime trail to the podium to scold people, I find myself wishing someone in the press corp would throw salt on her just to see what would happen.
