(CNN) The US Department of Educations Office for Civil Rights on Monday sent letters to 60 colleges and universities it says are under investigation for alleged violations relating to antisemitic harassment and discrimination, warning institutions of possible consequences if they dont take adequate steps to protect Jewish students.
The Office for Civil Rights said that it sent letters under its authority to enforce Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which bans any institution receiving federal funds from discriminating based on race, color, and national origin.

(6,210 posts)It's not because they like Jews. The Book of Revelations in their Bible tells them that Israel must be in existence at the time of the Second coming of Christ. That's when the "true believers" all get raptured to Heaven and the Jews all die.

(66,220 posts)There are only a few possible reasons why supposedly idealistic people would help elect the candidate who promised to destroy Gaza and go after colleges and universities that are "allowing protests." (Which happens to be a Constitutional right but apparently only the Second Amendment counts these days...)
If you can think of more please add to the list, but I've got...
1. Voters were so misinformed they thought that Trump would help Gaza, even though he repeatedly said that he would allow/help Israel to destroy it.
2. Voters hoped to "burn it all down" and so voted for the destroyer candidate who would annihilate our entire country, in the hope that something better will emerge. Palestine to be sacrificed along the way.
3. Voters hoped to watch it all burn down purely for the sake of their personal entertainment, secure in their belief that it won't affect them. These people love Musk.
4. Voters hoped the situation would get much worse so that they can continue complaining (a corollary of Option 2).
5. Voters held mostly Republican points of view (homophobic, sexist, racist, believe in the "free market," low taxes, and no government regulation) so they were always going to vote for Trump but it makes them feel better to say it was all the Democrats' fault for yadda yadda.
That's it. I can't think of any other possible reasons why voters who care about Palestinians would help elect Trump.

Which I am sure is not your view or intention.
So I have nothing to add to such a list. Sorry.

(2,500 posts)What does the vote of pro- Palestinians, Muslims etc have to do with the serious rights abuses against them by the Trimp Admin? Other than to deflect and victim-blame, that is?

(7,049 posts)anti-Muslim harassment and discrimination. As we know the GQP has fought hard to make anti-Muslim groups and speakers a permanent fixture on college campuses all under the guise of "free speech".

(38,870 posts)Yes, there is real antisemitism, but the right's sudden apoplexy over it is just a convenient excuse to launch attacks on anyone on the left, including the most UN-antisemitic people around. Anyone even a tiny bit "out of line" will be tarred with the same brush -- just as Joseph McCarthy tarred people as Communists, whether there was any accuracy in the charge or not.

(55,465 posts)His college is devastated. It's a renowned medical resesrch institution. Hundreds of pending research projects have been left in the lurch with no funding, resulting in an across the board hiring freeze and attempt to move money from other programs so that precious research results are not ruined or patients left with implants that need to be removed, etc. This is affecting all the students. My son is not a medical student, but his department was hit to deal with the funding cut, and he was not able to get classes he needs to graduate next session.
And for what?
It's infuriating.
