Arsonist sets fire to Tesla charging stations: Police

Police in Massachusetts are investigating fires that appear to have been intentionally set that destroyed seven Tesla charging stations, police said.
The fires were first reported at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Monday morning when the Littleton Police Department in Massachusetts were dispatched to The Point Shopping Center due to reports of several fires at the Tesla charging stations there, according to a statement from the Littleton Police Department.
Chief Matthew Pinard reports that the Littleton Police Department responded to and is investigating fires at a Tesla charging station at The Point Shopping Center that are believed to be suspicious in nature, authorities said. Responding officers observed that several Tesla charging stations were engulfed in flames and heavy, dark smoke.
Police said that the Littleton Electric Light & Water Department was immediately contacted and requested to shut down power but that while waiting for the electric department to arrive, another charging station caught fire.

(777 posts)We need electric transportation. If you don't want Tesla on it, support other vendors. But we need all we can get. Climate change is not a side issue, it's an urgent problem.

(777 posts)Tesla is currently the strongest EV platform. Don't fuck with me on this. Electrification is needed, ASAP. Come to terms with this reality however you will. But drive an electric car, period. And don't stop anyone else from doing so.

(777 posts)And don't encourage idiots who set fire to charging stations or harass BEV owners because of associations. Fucking morons probably drive a VW, and have no clue.

(92 posts)It is the TeSSla supercharger network that is the key, and TeSSla has market power, if not a monopoly, and barriers to entry into the market are being raised by Trump as pay back to Musk. I dont advocate violence or vandalism in any fashion. But It has been gratifying to read about TeSSla stock tanking, owners looking to junk their SwastiCars and WankPanzers, and TeSSla superchargers being boycotted or destroyed.
If you are inclined to act out against a SwastiCar or WankPanzer, keep in mind that the vehicles can be left on sentry mode, which keeps the vehicle's cameras powered on and ready to record suspicious activity around the car when it's parked and locked. This mode activates automatically. and from what I hear, when a potential threat is detected from a person who isnt an aryan in a MAGA hat, it will release a lethal dose of Zyklon B gas.

A- I am a two-EV owner (EV and PHEV) and advocate. But I would never own a TeSSla even if the world were ending tomorrow due to climate change. And I actively avoid TeSSla chargers. At this point, Musk and Trump are a far more imminent and existential threat to this Country and the world than climate change.
B. Part of my post was tongue-in-cheek.
If you patronize TeSSla and give Musk and TeSSla money, whether for cars or charging, you are part of the problem. Find an alternative. If there are none, write to your congresscritter and complain about the monopoly, but we all know that will be meaningless.
Why you are looking to pick a fight on DU is a mystery. I suggest you grow up and redirect your vitriol to those on the other side who wear little red hats, or who drive around unapologetically in their SwastiCars and WankPanzers.

(4,606 posts)Way more of an existential threat. Not even close. Sorry about your Tesla. I've never damaged anything. I drive a Mitsubishi Mirage and get 41.5 mpg. If everyone drove what I'm driving, pretty sure pollution would be at a much more acceptable level. It's the Nazi behavior and the racism and the 100% complete disregard for ANY environmental controls. These are facts. If some Teslas burn, then they burn. Not crying about that. Cheers

(777 posts)I don't understand the psychology of Elon Musk, making a huge EV company and then trying to destroy the EV industry. But the company Tesla is not the enemy. Tesla drivers are not the enemy. The internal combustion engine and the oil industry are the enemy.

(4,606 posts)He's the real-life version of Doctor Evil. Of course, I agree about the environment. Hyperbole aside but the news is gonna report. I'm afraid things are gonna go haywire. Nick Fuentes just told trump to release Derek Chauvin. Can you imagine? The orange fatso just may do it.
The psychology of Musk is pretty simple. He is doing what all monopolists do hes trying to preserve TeSSlas near monopoly power by knee-capping existing competitors, and making it difficult for new competitors to enter the markets in which TeSSla is active (DC Charging, EVs) and compete with TeSSla Musk is now able to do this with the assistance of the Government, which is largely immune for antitrust enforcement.
If you think climate change is bad now, wait four years. Musk and TeSSla are an enemy, and if you unapologetically drive a TeSSla and advocate their purchase, you are complicit.

(23 posts)Genius!! burn all the charging stations so no other electric cars can charge. The city will just PAY Elon twice to install another one.
WINNING!
Also as stupid as spending 40 grand on a Tesla, just to set it on fire. YAY! great job protesting.
As stupid as buying a book, just to burn it. I'm sure the writer is crying, using dollars to wipe tears.... lol

(23,384 posts)A Rivian R1S. I need it for work to haul parts to build guitar amplifiers. Its a sports hearse, a massive 7200 lb SUV that goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, has a 300 mile range and can charge at Tesla supercharger stations. Please dont burn them down. There arent enough of them and to some degree, the US taxpayers have paid for them.
If you own a Tesla, sell it if it bothers you. Protest outside Tesla sales sites. Protest outside Tesla manufacturing sites. Protest anytime Elon Musk is in town. Post your feelings about him here. Post your feelings about him anywhere on the Internet. But dont burn the infrastructure that helps the rest of America drive electric cars. Elon Musk is doing so much damage to Tesla right now, its insane. He doesnt need anyone to burn down anything. Hes burning it down by himself. Hes a jackass. A total fucking jackass.

(20,217 posts)I can understand the emotions that lead people to do things like that, but I wish people would find more constructive ways to act on them - such as the ones you suggest.
I agree that the Muskratfucker, as I like to call him, is an idiot, a fool, and a complete fucking jackass. I wish to hell he could be stopped before he does any more damage, but it doesn't appear likely to happen. Those who would like to stop him don't have the power, and those who have the power are either unconcerned or afraid to stand up to Trump.
This country is SO fucked right now!
