Man cuts off genitals, uses them to set fire, police say
A man from Indiana was charged with a felony after he was accused of cutting off his genitals and using them to start a fire, according to court documents.
On May 6, a man was charged with arson after police say he cut off his penis, doused it with gasoline and lit it on fire in the garage of his mother's house in Fort Wayne, Indiana, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY.
While attending to the fire, the suspect's family told first responders he was missing. Meanwhile, officers were attending to the suspect, who said he had been stabbed in downtown Fort Wayne, according to the affidavit. It wasn't until later, after the suspect had been taken to the hospital, that he admitted to police he had inflicted the wound on himself and started the fire in the garage.
Christopher Peden, 36, was arrested and charged with arson in the case.
Peden told police he used a kitchen knife to cut off his genitals while he was in the garage, before he set it on fire and left the scene.
