https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp9lee19y1yoOutcry as Meta lets users make AI images from public Instagram profile pics
While Meta says users can opt out of their image being used even with a public account, Donald Campbell, advocacy director at tech justice non-profit Foxglove told the BBC it was an "obvious recipe for disaster".
"We've already seen a catalogue of harms from non-consensual AI-altered images on social platforms just in the past year," he said.

Meta said a dedicated setting, separate from account privacy controls, allows users to opt out even if they have a public account.
To do so, users must go to Instagram's settings menu, select "Sharing and Reuse" and switch off "Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features at Meta" for posts and reels. These settings only appear if you have a public account

Again, the default setting is to exploit people. This is called a "dark pattern" or "deceptive design pattern"

SAG-AFTRA Recommends Members Opt-Out Of Meta's AI Feature: "Take Action To Protect Your Likeness"
Meta now lets anyone use your Instagram photos in AI images without your consent, the guild shared in a statement. SAG-AFTRA recommends that #SagAftraMembers (and all Instagram users) opt-OUT of Metas new AI image generation tool, Muse Image. Take action to protect your likeness.
i.e. people can make movies with "you" in them and not owe you a penny.
And other stuff ... you know what I mean ...

(5,361 posts)1. Every image posted to Zuckworld is retained,
even after the user deletes it.
This is why I forbade my friends to put my image on Facebook.
Decades ago I read that Zuck sent all images to sweatshops in Eastern Europe to train facial recognition. I guess now he just sends any and all faces to his destructive, polluting spyware farms to train AI, which is all stolen property. You don't own your life, AI does.
