Chris pointed out his source was The Atlantic article, which states:

The doors, however, remained glaringly unadorned until Trump had an idea: He took his personally designed presidential challenge coinsuch tokens are generally a palm-size souvenir thats popular in military and law-enforcement circlesand glued it to the center of the Oval Office door, at about eye level. Everyone was impressed by how good it looked, a White House official told us. In the weeks that followed, Trump made his way through the West Wing, seeking out new places to affix his coins (golden and featuring the presidential seal). One by one, the president decorated the office doors of each of his deputies. His aides are convinced that he will eventually cover all of the doors.

We know he stays up all night posting his maniac rants on social media; now we learn this is what he does during the day.
What kind of time management is this? What kind of priorities?
Link to Atlantic article, which tells more of his superficial interests and how he does nothing presidential. He really thinks the job involves posting on social media and promoting himself using our tax dollars, ruining our historical buildings with his hideous, immature taste.

(43,421 posts)Notice how the White House staff person ingratiates himself with trump by saying how nice it looks? One of the guests on the show remarked on how the WH staff is afraid of trump's emotional reactions, and she went on to cite how trump once lost his temper with Wilbur Ross, the commerce secretary.
She said it was vicious, and he yelled and treated Ross despicably. Ross, while being a republican snake (known as the Bankruptcy King) was at least a businessman.
The WH staff walks on eggshells, fearful of trump's violent temper.

(43,421 posts)at the WH and also at places like the with the royal family in the UK are loyal to the job, not the people in the position. They view people like trump and even Biden as "just passing through." There are quite a number of books by such people and they are entertaining to read because it tells about the personal foibles that we never hear about.
One of the best examples is The Residence Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Anderson Brower. But there are many more!
The one I read was about Queen Elizabeth and her corgis. It told about how she insisted that all her dogs be treated very well. Can't recall the title at the moment, but it told all about the personal idiosyncrasies of the royal family.
I can see why such a staffer wouldn't let some uncouth oaf like trump elbow them out of their job. In fact, they probably are taking notes for a salacious book once trump is out of there.
