Jewish community leaders are blasting Californias Secretary of State for publishing a voter information guide statement from a fringe gubernatorial candidate who espoused anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.
Don J. Grundmann, an independent with no party affiliation and no prior political experience, is among dozens of candidates who qualified for the ballot. California residents are receiving their voter guides in the mail this month ahead of the June primary.
Grundmanns statement includes a litany of conspiracies, including claims that conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was killed by an Israeli bomb and that Israeli art students brought down the Twin Towers on 9/11.
These are not only offensive ideas, they are dangerous falsehoods, many of which are amongst lies that have fueled hatred and violence against Jews for centuries, the Jewish Federation Los Angeles said in a statement Thursday. The organization expressed outrage that Grundmanns missive was printed as-is.

Jewish Leaders may want to "blast" Grundmann. He's probably running to get that CT crap into the Voter's Guide.

This guy is a nobody, putting this story out gives way more attention to him than saying nothing at all.

(10,053 posts)Candidates are allowed to purchase space in the voter guide to make a statement, with a limit of 250 words, but state guidelines are somewhat vague on restrictions. The statements are not allowed to reference other candidates and are supposed to be limited to a recitation of the candidates own personal background and qualifications.
Above Grundmanns statement is a disclaimer reading, The views and opinions expressed by the candidates are their own and do not represent the views and opinions of the Secretary of States office.
