Went to the bakery today.
They make a pizza there that many people don't like, but I like it, and the people who DO like it, REALLY like it. They cut the slices off a sheet, and the slices are very small. you could wolf down one slice in 3 bites.
Anyway...3 pieces of city chicken, 3 small slices of pizza, 2 black and white cookies.
With tax, $44 even.
My eyes glazed over as I handed the woman my credit card. I know it was rung up correctly, because I watched her ring it up.
It was lunch for two, take out.
There's still a nice piece of city chicken left over, but Jesus...

Most of the cost was in the city chicken, which I can understand, but holy cow...this is just a bakery that people go to when they want something quickly to wolf down in their car or at home.

(14,937 posts)There's your problem right there.
You're eatin' that highfalutin', liberal city chicken, when you should be eatin' salt-of-the-earth, god-fearin' rural chicken.
I bet you washed it down with an espresso, too!

(7,185 posts)Chicken, whole can cost between 10 euro at the cheapest places and up to 23 euro for some really fancy organic ones. About 3 pounds each. The cheap ones are a little lighter and the primo a bit heavier. I'm buying the 15 to 17 euro ones. They taste and cook better.
I feel your pain.

(23,014 posts)Breaded, on a wooden stick.
Sometimes all pork, sometimes pork and veal together.
Usually bought as a "fast" food, but also suitable for a sit-down meal.
