In Re: Crockett v. Talarico

Talarico has been on my radar since his 2023 sermon against Christian Nationalism.

He is a unique, and uniquely effective voice against Christian Nationalism, which has become the most serious threat to the American values that have driven every decent thing this nation has managed to accomplish.

I would have been happy whoever won the nomination, but long before Crockett was immorally, and unlawfully gerrymandered out of her seat, I was thrilled to see Talarico stepping up. He is a voice we NEED on the national stage.

Jasmine is a powerhouse and I look forward to her taking down Ted Cruz in 2030. But my support for Talarico did not come from some "white guy is more electable" bullshit that so many seem to be distilling this down too.

It is possible to have complicated motives and mixed feelings. It would have warmed my heart if she had won. I would have loved to see her taking on Cornyn (or Paxton), but I would still have felt that we were missing an opportunity to put a powerful voice against Christian Nationalism on the national stage at a critical juncture.

He had better press appearances, did ground work, didn't get caught up in some lazy messaging.

Rep. Crockett is awesome. She'll either be some executive functionary in a future Dem admin (hey, how about her for FBI director or Attorney General). Or make her Speaker.

She wasn't ready for this statewide race and made some early mistakes.

We now have an excellent candidate in Talarico who will give us an good chance at flipping the seat.

I don't think Talarico will win - probably lose by 6 points or so. So it's really a non-issue.

I wondered, too.

Talarico's grandfather was a Baptist preacher in South Texas who Talarico says taught him that Christianity "is a simplethough not easyreligion, rooted in two commandments: 'love God and love your neighbor.'"[2]

Talarico earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin,[9] where he organized students for tuition relief.[10] He later earned a Master of Education degree in education policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.[11]

While a member of the Texas House of Representatives, Talarico earned his Master of Divinity at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.[12][3][13]

in 2030. I hope by that time she is engaged by the NAACP or SPLC. She needs to focus on her own now.

ED of NAACP - she could move people to defiance of our Country. All of it - IE - the Dominant Culture.

I would be great if they could go the way Georgia did by having both of them be in bvb the Senate one day.

Are going to go back to 'business as usual' in 2028. Would Crockett be better as the DNC's 'fetch and step woman' - or could she have a greater impact in Black American rebellion in 2029?

We might have to wait a few years - but I'm all for burning it down in a few years.

At least not yet.

I truly do wish those two excellent and promising Democrats could treat that office as co-trustees.

I like them both so much.

Repeating my request that James Talarico quietly offers the senate chief of staff job to Jasmine Crockett.

It would keep her in legislative work in D.C. while she decides what to pursue next.

No egos. Be colleagues. Hold that office by running it inspiringly.

They still need to petition to get every vote counted -- ideally joint, or parallel petitions from Talarico, Crockett, DNC, Ellias Law Group, and other election protection orgs. Paxton can't be allowed to get away with disenfranchising voters without a fight

It is no longer about the outcome. It is about the vigorously defending the fundamental principle that EVERY VOTE COUNTS; EVERY VOTE MUST BE ACCURATELY COUNTED.

She is no idiot. A role will be found for her. We’ll have her powerful voice around for a long while, I think.
