Taking out the blood clots was SUCCESSFUL!! My incredible wife will be on blood thinners, but the important thing is she will be home.

(2,796 posts)A year or so ago, my brother had gallbladder removal surgery, but it took weeks for him to be out of rehabilitation (he was on a catheter then) because he developed blood clots in his urinary bladder. The final one was the size of a grapefruit. He was okay after that.

So good to hear!
That is awesome news, yankee87. I had a TIA (ministroke) due to APHIB and am now on thinners. Luckily, Portland has a critical care stroke wing, and they got me back on my feet. Hopefully, she'll come out of it without a hitch.

Definitely sounds like something with celebrating! Whats she allowed to eat and drink? Something to toast with, even if its water, tea, chocolate milk, or even just plain white actual toast! (Whatevers safer!)

(8,598 posts)I just got home from nearly the same thing, and we're trying to figure out what the cause was.
Also, they sent me home on Eliquis, $300/month, forevermore. I nearly choked on that. Surely blood thinners needn't be so expensive?!?
Anyway, best wishes to you both. I've got a 12" gash from here to there with staples in it that itches like hell, and getting comfortable is near impossible. Hope she does better!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
