Olympics

Finally got around to watching the opening ceremony and the US athletes walking in. It was bitter sweet to be honest. I felt great for the athletes walking in but I cannot suspend reality. It's surreal to be celebrating like this while also faced with the reality that we are officially in a dictatorship and that this administration is up to their eyeballs in a worldwide cabal of child murdering pedophiles.

Sorry, not to be a downer but that's the reality of it. It's just insane to me to look at this event and not think that in that audience, attending these events, is a bunch of child murdering pedophiles and it just pisses me off.

But then, after a lot of thought, I remembered that these athletes compete all the time against athletes from other countries. They have a world view. They are friends. They want peace. They compete hard but congratulate the winners when they, themselves, lose. I suppose a few voted for Trump but I'd be willing to bet most didn't. He wouldn't be their style at all.

I was glad to see that the people in the stadium cheered when out athletes walked in. I was equally glad when they booed JD Vance. I feel pretty sure they can see the difference too.

And, at the end of the day, it isn't about the audience. It's about the athletes.
