IN-01: Indiana House GOP candidate withdraws from race, citing state's failure to redistrict

An Indiana Republican running for a competitive House seat announced Thursday that she would be withdrawing from the race, citing the competitive nature of the district and the state’s failure to redistrict ahead of November.

“Indiana’s legislature sadly chose not to redistrict Indiana congressional map to counter Democrats’ egregious gerrymandering and their counting of illegal immigrants in the census,” former Indiana Public Safety Secretary Jennifer-Ruth Green said in a statement one day before the state’s filing deadline.

“IN-01 remains an extremely difficult seat for a Republican to compete in and win. With your help, we ran a strong race in 2022 and put this district on the map,” she continued. “Having been through it once, I understand the harsh reality: to win this seat, there is no margin for error.”

Indiana’s 1st Congressional District, represented by Rep. Frank Mrvan (D-Ind.), is seen as a top pickup opportunity for Republicans, as it went evenly for both President Trump and former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, according to The Downballot.

This fool might want to read the US Constitution. The census counts "all persons". There is no other requirement.

She can fuck all the way off. She quit her race because she sees the blue tsunami coming. Its got nothing to do with "redistricting". Good riddance.

They should go look up census records from years ago.

For example, the 1930 Census for Manhattan, District 0540 lists Mary MacLeod as a maid working in Louise Carnegie's home. She was born in Scotland. Mary MacLeod would become Mary Ann Trump, and wouldn't gain citizenship until 1942.

Or… and hear me out here because this kid kind of crazy… you could run a campaign based on the needs and desires of your future constituents rather than just running as a lapdog of the fuher?

how being ordered to pay $10,000 for improper actions can be a "major legal victory'. Those words do not mean what she thinks they mean.
