What a Real DNC "Autopsy" of the 2024 Election Would Say

TNR’s Monica Potts argues that Democrats shouldn’t focus on winning the working class or any specific bloc, but instead be “loud” on a few issues that resonate with the entire electorate.

Very thorough and detailed interview. Lots of food for thought.

Period.

They will try to obscure it with whatabouisms and outliers.

People are not going to vote for someone who sits off in the corner, looking nervous and jittery and saying "welllll... we don't have the votes... I don't know...."

Voters want ideologues, firebrands and, yes, confident idiots over nervous geniuses.

The median voter has given us a choice: Do you want to win elections -OR- do you want to be pragmatic, logical, and reaching across the aisle-seeking?

You can't have both with them.

Potts doesn't like the term "working Americans", but instead wants to say "college educated". It is a distinction without a difference.

No matter how you slice the population demographically, EVERY SLICE will contain a high percent who are apathetic, uninformed, and attracted to authoritarians offering simple solutions (it is always "the other" who causes your problems) to complex situations. To win a governing majority, we have to change that situation in ALL DEMOGRAPHIC SLICES.

Potts eventually gets to a helpful point with, "I think I would reject the premise of the question because I think that one of the things that is always under-discussed when looking at results is the role of non-voters."

I'm sorry, I found the first 30 paragraphs a waste of time. If she actually offered helpful, actionable ideas, I didn't get that far. If so, could you be kind enough to list her best 3 ideas?

You know, all people are respected, equal justice under law, civil rights, using the power of government to make life better for all Americans?

Mr. Plough? Mr. Plough? Funny how fast he went back into the corporate sector after the check cleared.
