Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has suspended her campaign for governor of New York.

In a statement on Friday, the Republican lawmaker said that running for governor was "not an effective use of our time or your generous resources."

"I am truly humbled and grateful for the historic and overwhelming support from Republicans, Conservatives, Independents, and Democrats all across the state for our campaign to Save New York," Stefanik said, noting that New York was a "challenging state" for Republicans.

"And while many know me as Congresswoman, my most important title is Mom. I believe that being a parent is life's greatest gift and greatest responsibility," she continued. "I will feel profound regret if I don't further focus on my young son's safety, growth, and happiness - particularly at his tender age."

I'm wondeiing if some nasty stuff is going to surface about Trump and Epstein.
By not running, she can distance herself from the scandal and stand up to him. Otherwise, she is tied to every scandal and poor decision the wretched man makes
She is young enough that she can come back in a few years.
People have such short memories they will forget how closely she aligned herself to Trump.

Of course, Trump may be about to offer her a cabinet position.
Her seat would be up for reelection because she is running for Gov.
