(42,251 posts)We are showing the way with our tradition of protest that we put into practice with the Vietnam War.
And equal rights for women.
Ive saved pics of sign-carrying me from my university student newspaper. Going to get them out and send around in my emails with this news!

(31,249 posts)If anything, we are the group that has done this before during the 60-70s and beyond. Maybe if people would learn that bigotry includes ageism and not only against the boomer plus crowds but against children too. Which is considered childism. We ALL deserve to have a voice in our government.
Thank you for bringing this up! 🙏 ❤️

(54,483 posts)They ALWAYS under report the real numbers and it is a pet peeve of mine.
For the April Hands Off protest the reports were "in the tens of thousands" in San Diego.
BS! It turned out that 80,000 actually protested.
On the June 14 NO KINGS they reported 5 million when there was over 10 million.(50% too
low).
On the Oct 18 NO KINGS they reported over 7 million, now it's over 20 million (66% too
low).
I have been to over 30 protests and am a pretty good judge of the real numbers. Also, there are a few statisticians out there who do the math and it is usually 50% higher than the MSM reports.

(8,561 posts)In this case, it wasn't the mainstream media intentionally underreporting. My understanding is the No Kings organizers just reported the number of people who signed up on their website. They didn't want to be accused of overstating their numbers. I would assume these numbers from a poll are closer to the real total, but could also be overstated somewhat.

(8,561 posts)figures. When they came out with the 7 million figure for this last No Kings protest, it never made sense to me when the number for June was over 5 million, and reports from this one consistently said there were anywhere from twice as many people to 4 times as many people. They're doing great work in organizing the protests, but they're undercutting their own message by significantly underreporting the attendance.
BigmanPigman
(54,483 posts)If they want more and more people to resist they should do their best to report on the high end. It encourages more people to protest. They need to rethink how to get more accurate numbers, it would benefit them.

(73,239 posts)the 1st march had about 100 ppl, out in front of the bldg. this time they marched down the street. it was 2 blocks long! at least 1000 ppl.

(12,386 posts)Organizers only reported the numbers that signed up on their website. I imagine a lot of people don't want to be on Pedo Trump's gestapo ICE list, so they showed up but didn't sign up.
20 million people, that's a lot of support. Plus you have people like me who supported it but couldn't attend.

(13,711 posts)Shut the spending down, turn it off. Stop their flow of money. Do not underestimate the power and leverage of your consumer dollars.
If 21 million people shut the spending down. Cut $25.00 a week from their spending to start. Then put that $25.00 away for an emergency
(21 million)($25.00)= $525 million dollars a week. Times 4-weeks a month ($2.1 billion), 12-months a year, do the math.
They won't like their cash cow messed with. Wages and benefits trickle down. Consumer dollars flow up big time. Control their flowof money.
Not spend is easy.
P.S. Make the banks whine. 1. if possible payoff the balance each month. 2. Pay cash, deny the banks their processing fees.

When I attended the protest in my little village (a block from my house), I couldn't believe how many people were there. I looked up and down the street, as far as the eye could see, and I "choked up". There had been approximately 400 at the June 14 No Kings. There were over 1500 on October 18th - they had folks counting.
