Of All The Things DarnOld j. dump ruined, I would like to make a public appeal for PBS
He had no right and no need to do this. This was not for the good of the American people.
You might say, 'yeah, but STREAMING...' Streaming costs you money and PBS is Free.
You might say, 'yeah, but Prime...' Prime costs you and PBS is Free.
All you need is an antenna, and if you don't have one, a paper clip will do.
Imagine watching complete shows without commercial interruption.
With access to history, science, nature, drama, sitcoms, and real truthful NEWS.
...and not having to pay a monthly bill for it.
Come back to PBS and support PBS, the last bastion of HOPE

(11,583 posts)I agree, it was totally unnecessary.

Losing Create is like losing the Travel channel and the Food Network!

(11,583 posts)And then maybe new funding at some point.
Mr.Bee
(1,375 posts)and I stopped paying money to watch TV.
I stopped watching commercial TV five years ago when Sinclair cut METV in my area.
I watch commercial TV for the 5:00 local news, but as soon as it goes to commercial,
I go back to PBS and BBC NEWS.

(40,387 posts)I make a monthly donation to APT which gives me access to Passport, which allows access to many old programs from years back. We're on such a tight budget (two people on one SS check) that I've avoided all donations, but when Turnip went after PBS I knew I could do something, even if it wasn't that big.

(1,375 posts)once it's gone, it's gone!
And it's not all about money, either.
I'm on a fixed income, but I donated three cars over the last 20 years!

(9,062 posts)because it's easier than remembering every year, and I don't want to lode Passport and not find out until there's something I really want to watch. It's not a huge donation each month, but it doesn't have to be., thankfully.

(9,062 posts)PBS shows have substance and bear re-watching, just as great books bear re-reading.
Mr.Bee

(1,368 posts)You not only get excellent entertainment, but you also get access to prior seasons of PBS shows. I give more to PBS than just the Passport membership cost because I truly believe in supporting PBS at the local and national level. Thank you, Mr. Bee, for such an eloquent defense of PBS!

(15,573 posts)I feel dumber watching most talking head news programs, but the News Hour is sober analysis and informed opinion without hyperbole. It's refreshing.

(1,375 posts)People spend MONEY on a channel to have pundits hate and lie to them,
spread misinformation - even to the precedent,
and yet PBS funding is the problem!
