There needs to be more "No Kings" rallies and they need to grow in larger numbers before the next election. It is the movement of the people. They have one goal - get rid of the kings and dictators.
The latest reports say that there were over 8 million people that attended the last No Kings rally. That needs to grow to 12 million by the next rally, and before the next election, it needs to be over 20 million people in the streets. That will be a movement that cannot be ignored or brushed away as nothing more than something paid for by George Soros.
Power to the people.
This is the best option for the people to take back our government, in my opinion.

So keep fighting for freedom and justice, beloveds,
but don't forget to have fun doin' it. Be outrageous... rejoice in all the oddities that freedom can produce. And when you get through celebrating the sheer joy of a good fight, be sure to tell those who come after how much fun it was!

(1,814 posts)There is evidence that it is slowly appealing to more conservatives as a populist movement against the elite. But that would mean the narrative shifts to denounce all corrupt politicians regardless of party. And really, in order to be a legitimate movement, it should.
Obviously the msot egregious things that are being done is fairly one sided by the Republicans, and while both sided ism is usually a fairly flawed practice, it isnt wrong to say that yhe current predicament involved a decent amount of teamwork.

(12,249 posts)With every outrage, with every American city and state invaded, I think we'll see bigger numbers and sustained activity. I have no doubt this is the reason, Trump is calling for investigations of any and all Democratic organizations to impede the funding and mechanics of putting together these mass People Protests. I caught a clip of the mayor of Chicago calling for a general worker's strike. Think this, too, will materialize in the future as Trump and his Flying Monkey Brigade ratchet up the abuse on our streets, wreck the economy and make everyone's life miserable while they live like entitled pricks.
Trump is counting on chaos and division to overpower the American population. Every act of bad faith is provoking a reaction of raw anger. Agent Orange and his goons want us afraid and cowering.
That's not happening at the moment. Peaceful, sustained protest is the path forward. Throwing as much sand in the gears as possible is the task of our democratic representatives in DC.
These are the tools we have. We need to use them well.

(4,702 posts)We should at least be demanding the seven basics. Nutritious food, clean water, healthcare, education, housing, a job and internet access. Universal access. Its absurd that in the richest country in the world we cant have these very basic necessities that everyone needs to have a decent life. A right to rest and enjoy things other than work should be part of it. No one should have to work two or three jobs just to survive.
We need to think bigger. We need to end this ridiculous mentality that the individual is more important than the community. That wealth hoarding and undercutting people is something to be admired. Corporate and personal greed needs to end.
You ask nicely, you demand and then you kick the fucking door down when they keep ignoring you.
Thats what we should be doing.

(106,634 posts)You know, we gave the Tea Party a ton of shit, and it was very much deserved. But you know what? They got their people elected at every opportunity, every election, no matter how large or small it was. We need to do the same - get our people running! Let's take this fight to the ballot boxes!

(1,937 posts)All protests in the past 25 years or so that were tried to be movements only ended up being flavor of the month fads. They were not taken seriously then, and I doubt it will be taken seriously now.

I try not to scream or vomit when local groups say they can't join rallies because they are nonpartisan or bipartisan. Nonpartisan and bipartisan are dead. The only real choice is patriotic or NONPATRIOTIC.
I'm active in my local Democratic Party, concerning which I recently wrote: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100220727184)
We are past the point of haggling over the Democratic Party's "message." Any message we offer gets diluted and misrepresented through the agency of billionaire-controlled mainstream and social media. We are fighting for the continued existence of a recognizable form of democracy. Our important choices now are tactical.
