VA-11: Special election to fill Rep. Gerry Connolly's seat is Tuesday
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — With early voting ending Saturday, the candidates are in the home stretch before Tuesday's special election to represent Virginia's 11th District following the death of Congressman Gerry Connolly in May.
Republican Stewart Whitson has not held any recent campaign events, but made his priorities clear during July's candidate forum.
"I'll fight for safer streets and communities. I'll fight to restore excellence in education, empower parents, and make sure our schools put learning ahead of politics," Whitson said.
Democrat James Walkinshaw has made multiple public appearances in the days leading up to the election.
