(26,042 posts)I said I wouldn't be surprised if they did this, kind of half jokingly. This country is just a huge embarrassment now.
Dear Mexico: We are so sorry we have an imbecile in our White House. We really appreciate your help, and surely the people you saved aren't complaining.
Ice will probably send them off to Africa.

(8,004 posts)...was able to get the story, don't you think it would be out there somewhere for everyone else to see?

(384 posts)When they say it was all caught on video, but don't show you any of the video, well...there's your sign.

(8,004 posts)If this had actually happened, it would be somewhere on the internet besides BlueSky.
And where is the video they claim they have of the ICE arrests? Because the ICE actions they're showing obviously weren't from the flood area.

(12,027 posts)Even Abbott isn't this stupid, not after what these teams did as first responders.
As an Onion piece, it works. But as straight-up news, it whiffs.
There is no conclusive evidence from the provided sources or available information that Mexican rescue workers involved in Texas flood relief efforts are being arrested. Social media posts on X have circulated claims suggesting that Mexican rescue teams, who assisted in Kerr County, Texas, after the July 2025 floods, were detained by ICE for crossing the border illegally. However, these claims are contradicted by other posts asserting the story is false and lacks mainstream media coverage.
The web sources focus on the contributions of Mexican volunteer rescue teams, such as Fundación 911 and Protección Civil from Nuevo León, who aided in search and rescue operations along the Guadalupe River following the deadly floods. These reports highlight their positive impact and coordination with U.S. authorities, with no mention of arrests. For example, Mexican volunteers were praised by officials, including Mexicos President Claudia Sheinbaum, for their solidarity. Some sources clarify that the deployment was independent and not coordinated by the Mexican federal government, but there is no indication of legal issues or detentions.[](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/08/mexico-firefighters-texas-flooding-search-rescue)[](https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/mexican-rescue-guadalupe-river-recovery)[](https://www.kxan.com/independence-day-floods/mexican-rescue-volunteers-bring-earthquake-expertise-to-texas-flood-recovery/)
Given the conflicting social media claims and the absence of arrests mentioned in reputable news sources, the allegations appear unsubstantiated. Always approach social media claims with skepticism, as they can spread unverified information. If youre seeking further clarity, checking primary sources like official statements from Texas or Mexican authorities would be the best course of action.

(242 posts)The problem these days is that its believable. So it triggers people, and we have to constantly question and research everything. And deny a lot of what we see and read. All this lying, distorting, and deceiving is exhausting to deal with. People underestimate the effect on mental and physical health.
Considering what were living through now, theres no fun in satire. Nothing this serious can be taken as a joke.
