There is still time to stop this bill before it passes in the House. Call 202-224-3121 and tell your representative to vote no.

(1,557 posts)I will not comply. I would suggest you give people encouragement to keep up the fight, instead of keeping it real.

(21,171 posts)I mean, they act like they always know exactly what's going to happen before it happens....and they always "know" it's going to be the worst thing possible! /s
Personally, I call that defeatism, but then I was raised not to give up on anything without a fight!

(354 posts)Voters did not listen to your warnings in November. I find those who stayed home complicit in the tearing down of democracy.

(8,117 posts)Our nation is awash in spectacle. Trump exploited the "entertainers" model that there is NO such thing as bad publicity. The rock band Motley Crue wanted to be in the papers, if they were beating up women, dying, destroying property, or wrecking and killing people, the fact they were NOTORIOUS brought interest to them. And they sold records, millions of them. TRUMP did the same thing. He said the most outlandish crazy shit, even gave a blowjob to a microphone and WON the fucking vote. That's what we're dealing with. No idea what we can do.

I do recall that Donald Trump killed people with his covid policies and propaganda,

(6,127 posts)and not all that were accused of doing so. NO ONE will be able to convince me that election was hijacked. And the next ones will be hijacked, as well. They've got the technology, the evil intentions, and the knowledge of how to do it. They did it; they've BEEN doing it for years. They just threw all caution to the wind in 2024 and went for broke.
But you know WHO I blame for 2024 turning out the way it did? The politicians who didn't get into office... the democrats who just shrugged their shoulders and said, "oh, well... if we say anything we believe we'll come off sounding like them." We didn't so much lose that election as we GAVE it trump.

(3,697 posts)from Republican-aligned PACs urging me to call my member of Congress RIGHT NOW to urge them to support Trump's Big Ugly Bill. I was in the meeting for maybe 3 hours, and came out to find they're pulling out all the stops to get members of Congress to pass it as is.
We need to heat up the phones tomorrow and until they vote like never before. The bill is a monstrosity and fiscally insanely irresponsible.
