(86 posts)one thinks her loved one will be deported back to Venezuela. She must not have heard that the US Supreme Court just greenlighted that they could be deported to any country, whether it's South Sudan, Guantanamo, or El Salvador.

(10,182 posts)Not only has Donald John lied so many times before his re-election, his behavior before his re-election has followed treads that even casual students of Latin American history should have recognized from their history. (IMO his behavior has resembled an inverse mirror image of Venezuelas Hugo Chavez).
But despite the history, despite the warning signs, so many citizen-immigrants and second-generation Latinos went right on ahead and voted for Orange Julius.
Too late to change their votes nowbut plenty of time for regrets.

(4,005 posts)During trump's first stunt as president he legitimized Maduro, ended Guaido's career as a politician and did not accept the results of an election that had shown Guado as the legitimate winner and new President of Venezuela, but Latinos, and Venezuelans in general decided to put plugs on their ears to make sure they would not listen to facts they were being told. They decided that trump would be the saviour of Venezuela, even though John Bolton in his book wrote about what Putin had told trump and reason why Bolton was not able to push for regime change in Venezuela. John Bolton dedicated Chapter 9 to Venezuela, and one may not like Bolton, but one thing is for sure, he is very intelligent, well informed, and dreams with being part of regime change.
I cannot prove the following but, I have the suspicion that some Venezuelan journalists who fled Venezuela to "El Doral" in Miami because they had opposed the Chavez/Maduro regime, were recruited by the republican party to sway nationalized Venezuelans to campaign and vote for trump and republicans, and they did, but of course now these talking heads are quiet about what is happening, they now discuss other topics on their podcasts.
The support for trump was so strong that they got the nickname of MAGAZolanos.
Knowledge IS power when its not ignored. Now they are finding out in the worst of ways.

(9,809 posts)Was outrageous. I screamed back "How about we are not going to do mass deportation!" Why do we have to have some magic message when the truth is right there and should be compelling enough.
