In the a summer in the '70s I was driving from Las Vegas to LA (first time ever in the area) and came to Furnace Creek. Was intrigued by the name and had to stop for a look around. Sheeeit, when I stepped out of the car was indeed like walking into a furnace.
Never experienced anything like that in my life before or since. I recall passing a few cars I guess without AC - I swear the occupants had their heads out the windows panting like dogs.

The Saudis have been able to play the US for decades using us a mercenary force to remove its enemies. Meanwhile, they gave up their conflict overtly knowing they dont have to use their military to do anything. Similar to Israel in many ways. They also know how much kissing Trumps ass gets you. They are very skilled at.
