People think: Heres a person coming up to me, not identified, covering themselves. Theyre kidnapping. Theyll probably fight back. That endangers the officer as well, and thats a serious situation. People need to know that theyre dealing with a federal law enforcement official.

Thankfully nobody took the bait.

(123 posts)I've been thinking that for a while now. I think it will definitely happen. It could be because they think they're being kidnapped or it could be because they've had it up to here and just aren't going to take it any more. Or they might actually happen upon some very bad criminals.

(2,179 posts)but based on the MO of these guys (cowards in face masks, no identification, random ass clothes and mismatched "Police" tags that can be bought online, actually FLEEING when citizens push back, unmarked cars, no warrants, and on and on and on), I feel it's more likely that a FAKE Gestapo agent (read: J6er) gets shot and killed before an actual agent.
It might not be prudent, but I know how I'd react if someone of the above description came breaking down my door.

Defense of I'm a citizen and was standing my ground.
I still can't believe a protestor or resistor has at least not tagged their vehicles with something like paintballs or spray paint.

Metaphorical
(2,449 posts)My guess is that many of these "agents" are J6ers deputized with minimal to no training and told to terrorize (and most of them are probably younger - 20s or 30s). Most border patrol that I've encountered are in their late 30s or 40s, and are considerably more professional. At one point ICE existed primarily as the place where you put your most seasoned agents (former DEA or similar roles). It makes me wonder how many REAL ICE agents were quietly let go in Musks's purge.

However, there's always the chance that armed individuals might start hanging out near the courts...
