After resisting returning him to the U.S., the government now says its worried the government will quickly deport him. Really.

OK. So, to recap, the government illegally sent Abrego to El Salvador in March, then resisted court orders from every level of the judiciary to facilitate his return until finally getting him back into the country this month. And now, having chosen to bring criminal charges against him (he pleaded not guilty), the government suggests that it would be somehow beyond its control if it (the government) winds up deporting him again and that effectuating such a speedy deportation would irreparably harm the public.
If this sounds incoherent, thats because it is.
As I noted in connection with Holmes rejection of the governments argument that Abrego is a member of MS-13, if federal prosecutors early arguments are a sign of things to come, that could bode well for Abregos legal fight.

(6,507 posts)He said he was going to get "retribution". It is foolish to think he didn't mean hurting the whole nation that voted him out in 2020, and he knows there was no fraud in that election.
He's just kinda easing us into getting used to armed, masked men kidnapping people by starting with POC that his MAGA idiots hate just because.

(287 posts)They don't want Garcia to be able to walk free, and possibly be extensively interviewed by the press, which will likely happen if he's released. Trump and Noem are going to make sure he's picked up once he walks out the door. The judge who issued the ruling about denying pretrial confinement, exposed the weakness in their case against him. They won't wait until he goes to trial, they'll deport him before it ever takes place.
