1. Polls simply are not reliable.

It’s not about whether polls were “rigged” in some way - it’s who they reach. The people most likely to answer the phone or not hang up are going to be a certain subset of voters who maybe are older, maybe more conditioned to respect calls and pollsters through years of responding, etc. The reality is that no matter what polling companies say, their polls are now becoming just as self-selecting as various polls published on media pages inviting clicks. Polling may no longer be a useful tool in any kind of marginally close race as people (myself included, along with many Dems I know) choose to not answer unknown callers especially during campaign season, and block and report as spam every one of the endless texts begging for money, votes, poll responses, etc. because we are sick to death of upwards of 10 of these junk messages/calls DAILY. Rather than acknowledging the reality that they are pissing off voters, they just seem to keep ramping up the spam every year.

2. Absolutely correct.

The vast majority of voters under 40 simply do not answer the phone, and it makes accurate polling very difficult.
