George Takei: Trump building detention camp in Florida swamp, just like 1942 Arkansas camp

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida.

If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

She didn’t talk much about it but did say it left an indelible mark on her life. She was uprooted from California as a preteen which I’m sure was traumatic.

It’s sickening that one of the most shameful periods of our history is repeating itself.

They're putting up what looks like mobile homes on a concrete strip. No shade around there. Probably no air condition.

It will be as bad as dying in a gas chamber. This Florida. It's brutally hot. Those people are going to suffocate.

And I guarantee that Trump idiots thing that these migrants can handle the heat better than white American can. No, they can't. They suffer. After they work these tiring jobs, they go home and deal with it in silence.
