Thanks to Mamdanis victory. Good job NYC!

At least his third-rate RW radio station will have plenty of copy to gripe about if Momdani is elected.

Krasnov is a communist: telling Walmart to eat the tariffs and keep its prices the same. Telling the fossil fuel industry to keep gas prices low.
I hear no one calling Krasnov a communist.

(23,937 posts)There are plenty of better alternative supermarkets throughout NYC.
Catsimatidis is a billionaire asshole. He threatens to move his headquarters to NJ. Good. NJ could use his tax dollars.
Incidentally, Mamdani's plan to have city-run supermarkets is silly. NYC has so many more problems of greater urgency. I doubt this place will ever get off the drawing board.

(28,877 posts)Maybe the DNC is out of touch with the American people?
Bringing in Bill Clinton to endorse Cuomo was off the wall, and makes them look pretty out of touch now. Think about this; Democrats forced Al Franken out of the Senate because of a misguided prank, but wanted someone who is accused of doing much worse as governor of New York.
The House steering committee also made Jasmine Crockett its last choice out of 4 people to be ranking member of the Oversight committee. Instead recommended Garcia, who originally was a Republican in his younger years. Switched to Democrat because I imagine it would be hard to be elected mayor of Long Beach as a Republican.

(5,184 posts)Mamdanis policies would be considered moderate. Thats how far to the right the GOP and corporate media has pushed this country.

(29,699 posts)Did the well funded police department prevent that from happening?
I think he wants address the failures of capitalism like homeless by providing a safety net instead of sending cops at the problem. He doesn't think cops should respond to mental health calls where the person isn't committing a crime but don't think it is a good idea to send armed unqualified police after them. He wants to do all this without taking a single dollar from the police budget.
I think the rules that apply to Democrats that win their primary for Presidential races should also apply to other races. People don't like to see the Democratic nominee attacked.

Some of the political flyers and ads portrayed Mamdani as "dangerous," so you can tell the establishment is rattled.

(375 posts)people are real sick of some peoples obsession over money, when so many cant afford to live in clean conditions, have proper medical care, housing, food, education, etc. When are the little people going to push back? Without the working class, nobody has anything and people need to remember that first.

(508 posts)Some wealthy people working in the financial industry are big donors to anyone who won't raise their taxes much. This model has been working for a long, long time. But what, really, is the point of "blue states" if they act like red states? Time for a change. Let's try something different. If Mamdani's policies succeed it will be great for the financial industry because people working in that industry will be living in a safer, cleaner, healthier, smarter, happier environment.

(8,403 posts)I must be against the states.
And, we wonder why we lost.
I am 'anti-' capitalism because it has proven to be far too corruptible and too easily manipulated to extreme bias. It has nothing to do with a particular state except when it pertains to how much their greed is creating social imbalance.
Should we take a look at the states you mention and compare what they put into homelessness and social programs vs what they put into 'dick waving' projects and trying desperately to act like they are superior to everyone else while ignoring the starving and the sick on the streets?
I am not saying that they don't address these things, I am saying the ratio of spending on such things as opposed to, say, a new stadium that was built by giving some rich billionaire tax breaks and incentives is a bias that is destroying everything. Such might bring in a few jobs, but what is the ratio of help vs income for the wealthy? They get millions while their 25 new employees get dirt wages for making the rich person look good?
If they are 'heavily dependent', then they are complicit in the extreme bias that is going on in our 'economy'.
It needs to be stopped. Or, we can just keep things as they are and watch as all of this happens again...and again... assuming we survive this one.

(24,310 posts)Meanwhile, there is an actual, real economy where people create goods and services (aside from finance). Ultimately, credit is needed. We can certainly do it better than its bring done now.

(508 posts)Its fair to require very wealthy residents and Wall Street firms to pay higher taxes to help provide decent social services and infrastructure. Moving to more progressive economics is not going after Wall Street. Its not anti-blue states. Its not punishing blue states. Its building a better society that works for the working class as well as the Ultra Rich living in Manhattan Penthouses. Sure, there will be a Red Scare, but we dont have to start it before they do.
