As long as these six justices control the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Constitution is dead.

There's no federal republic left to save, only states.

The President is corrupt.

The Supreme Court is corrupt.
The Congress is corrupt.
Some of the state legislatures are corrupt.
Some of the lower court judges are corrupt.
The states that still have a functioning legislature and governor and the lower courts are the only bulwark remaining

(25,765 posts)With a Republican majority, Congress as an institution has been corrupted, as it is now a tool for dear leader.

(67,055 posts)... and be allowed to be identified along with the GOP scoundrels in Congress? Their majority is less than 2 or 3% in Congress but Congress is 100% corrupt?
People used to kill Buffalo just for the tongue and hides. Are we going to kill our system because of the corruptipn of the 2-3%???

(40,742 posts)I understand what you're saying. What is "botherism?" And I don't see equating Dems to MAGA.
Please understand that I'm not challenging you. I genuinely want to understand your point of view, but don't fpr tje reasons I've explained.

(67,055 posts)... All Congress is not corrupt and saying otherwise casts a pall on the system instead of focusing on the actual corruption and the actually corrupt. It suppresses the vote by casting doubts about the institution vs the corrupt in the the institution. Especially the corruption is not the fault of the corrupt, but the fault of the voters. We do not vote in proportion to our numbers and it's allowed the GOP vote to be worth more a Democratic vote, gerrymandering because Democrats didn't vote in State election on non presidential elections.

(40,742 posts)Chris Murphy, Bernie, AOC, Adam Schiff, and Jamie Raskin. I know I'm forgetting a few, but the ones I mention are very astute and do cut them off at the knees. Justice Sotomayor issued a lengthy dissent to this decision.
The ic.institute (first post from Bluesky) is for California secession. I admit that I am thinking longingly of a secession of the Northeastern states. We Northeasterners and California have the money and the intellect. If the rest of this country wants to go down this road, let them, but do it on their own, not with our money. Here's how that breaks out:
Which states send more to the federal government than they receive?
In terms of net contributions, 19 states sent more to the federal government than they received in 2023. The largest gaps were in New York ($89 billion), California ($78 billion), and New Jersey ($70 billion).
On a per-person basis, Delaware ($10,505), Minnesota ($7,605), and New Jersey ($7,456) contributed the highest net total.

This does not solve the problem for our fellow Democrats in red states, and that is a big problem. I don't know what to do about that, either. It is a huge expenditure of energy, time, and money to be fighting these backward, corrupt republicans all the time. There are so many better things to be doing for imperative issues like climate change. If we can be the example, maybe the rest of the country will see what the country can be. It's better to have some of the country with Constitutional principles than none.

I hope it won't come to secession, which would be a dream come true for Putin.
I am all for the spirit of blue state resistance in whatever and all for s that may take, including tax reaistance. Blue states should refuse to fund his lunacy.
