Gil Duran: A strange quote from Peter Thiel that explains a lot

A strange quote from Peter Thiel that explains a lot:

“The one part of the Christian view that I believe more strongly than anything is that death is evil, that it’s wrong and we should not accept it and fight it any way we can.”

Seems like a bold misinterpretation of the Eternal Life concept.

What interests me is that many of Thiel's ideas seem to be willful misinterpretations of this kind.

Thiel and a lot of other tech bros sometimes try to pretend, even to themselves, that they're Christian. But instead they believe in the ability of AI cultists to create a godlike superintelligent AI that will reward leaders of the AI cult with immortality (possibly through a man-AI merging) and with similar godlike powers.

So they take massive supplements and make every effort to try to live long enough to benefit from being among the few to live forever. Presumably afterwards they will live with pills and food grown by and prepared by robots. So any kind of autocracy or authoritarian regime is just fine so long as it gets them past the finish line.

The Singularity is possible, but I think the one they envisage is highly unlikely. What will happen is that technology advances will bring us to an inflection point where there is enough abundance for all to be comfortable, if we choose to share. It is the only way which works. The elitist techbro vision is not practical or desirable.

If you want to live forever, you'd better have your head removed and frozen now while it's still relatively young.

Do it.

and I don't want your friend's chip in my head.

Death is not evil, death is the conclusion of life. I have never seen "death is evil" anywhere in the Christian belief system.

They're sharing ketamine.

A cult that worships their lord at the moment of his death and depicts his agony as icons of adoration, think about it!
