Irans missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar appears to have been a limited, face-saving response to the United States bombing of its nuclear facilities, but Iran remains a serious terror threat, Congressman Don Bacon said Monday.
Bacon, the U.S. representative for Nebraskas 2nd Congressional District, said the fact Iran offered a warning before launching missiles toward Al Udeid Air Base is an indication it was seeking a response that would not further provoke President Donald Trump and the United States.
I do think this was done in a very limited manner to try not to provoke President Trump in a big counter-strike, Bacon said. I do think they realize if they provoke us again, they have so much more to lose than we do.
He said Irans limited strike also could in part be due to the fact Irans missile assets have been severely degraded in the recent conflict with Israel.
