Should Democrats embrace a clear multilevel immigration reform policy.

I find it literally stupid (nothing new with the Trump administration) that we're throwing out hard working people, as well as some of smartest people simply for crossing the border illegally to be in this country.

So, Republicans insist that the mandatory punishment be at least deportation. They couldn't come up with some sort of penance sentence, where you can apply a punishment and then a chance to get in line. The BLOCKHEADS can't summon the mental ability to come up with something that can be a minor punishment which could be to our advantage like public service for a select time to amend for the illegality of crossing the border. Then upon completion that they can apply and get in line for citizenship.

Of course, by multi-level, I mean there is a category for dreamers, on up to jail and deportation for criminals. I don't think underage people who were brought here without even knowing what was going on, need any punishment phase.

That's what happened in '23. They held out so trump could "solve" the issue.

3. Theirs is not an immigration policy. It's ethnic cleansing. Immigration is just an excuse.

They don't care about the severity of someone's immigration situation, they don't care if you have a green card or visa or even if you earned citizenship. Hell, they don't even care if you were born here. And they sure don't care about due process.

Because it's ethnic cleansing. All these rules and distinctions just get in the way of the one thing they want, which is to get rid of as many Hispanic people as they can.

They started with undocumented immigrants with criminal records because that's easy for people to say ok to. But they're sloppy with the rules for a reason, which is that they want to deport Hispanic people whether they are criminals or not, whether they are undocumented or not, they just want to deport as many as possible.

So our policy? Any actual, sane immigration policy is fine. We should just have a no ethnic cleaning policy.

We should be fighting hard for a pro-immigration policy as a matter of principal as well as of practicality.

And we should offer service jobs as a way station for new legal immigrants rather than making them wait 3 months for work permits.

They self deport for free and can come back in an official capacity. It's not a bad idea.

And we do need to articulate a compelling alternative policy that is not quite what it was during Biden's term but is a sane but firm alternative to the gestapo activity going down now.

this could be related to immigration but in general. So Republicans aren't able to fearmonger.
