Trump: "I'm not happy with Israel...We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the fuck they're doing."

WTF cares what he likes or doesn't. Cease fires don't rest on trump's predilections. F@#$K him.
I'd tell him to go blow.
This whole thing is nothing but theatrics on his part, anyway.
He's trying to appear as "the decider" when he would have had more strength if he'd gone through Congress. His illegal act costs him credibility...again.
One doesn't talk to countries involved in an age-old conflict like they are six-year olds.

(3,503 posts)But, I was afraid of my post being sent to jury and hidden. Any time I mention some comment that Trump makes that isn't totally crazy, some here on DU get unhinged.
I get it. Trump is an existential threat to America. I hate him and his minions with every cell of my body.
But if Trump says something that seems at least have sane, we should be able to point it out without being juried.
TacosUberAlles
(60 posts)It took me a second to understand what you're were saying with "jury's". If I'm reading this correctly, people can report a comment & it gets sent to a jury? That's actually pretty neat. A literal democracy to see if you broke the rules. How does one get on a jury? I've never heard of such a thing before on forums. Wild.
I hope nobody reports what I said. Trump is a grifting asshole that only cares about himself. I do think one of the reasons he said what he did was to gain favor with his base who's pissed as hell that he is behaving like W Bush. It's the strategy of manipulation & it's not meant nor aimed at us at all but those who make chocolate shakes with the dirt his bare naked feet walk on.

(214 posts)His ceasefire allowed a lot of time for each side to "complete their missions "
Israel was given 12 more hours than Iran to start the ceasefire. Israel attacks happened before Krasnov's ceasefire time.
How do you not know that Israel was going to use those final hours to attack?
So now Israel has attacked. Iran is already supposed to be in timeout.
If Iran retaliates how is it their fault.
This is just so stupid!
TacosUberAlles
(60 posts)And now we find out that this ceasefire was bullshit all along but because Trump announced it before Israel & Iran even heard about it, let alone approved it, they are like "wtf is this, well, ok I guess?"
What is even going on?

Iran's Revolutionary Guards say their last attack on Israel was launched prior to cease-fire start, Tasnim
Iran's last wave of missiles against Israel was carried out minutes before a cease-fire implementation in response to deadly Israeli strikes, the Revolutionary Guards said on Tuesday in a statement reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The statement said 14 missiles were launched against military centres across Israel, adding that Iranian armed forces will continue to monitor "enemy movements with open and vigilant eyes", Tasnim reported.

Trump tells Fox host he's 'more frustrated' with Israel than Iran over recent escalation
U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox & Friends host Lawrence Jones on Tuesday he's "more frustrated" with Israel than Iran following the latest round of strikes in the region, accusing Israel of acting in bad faith.
Jones, recounting his conversation with Trump, said: "I said, 'Why are you so frustrated with Israel?' And he says, because he didn't feel like it was good faith, that even though they still had some time until the ceasefire, that they essentially unloaded on Iran."
Asked about reports that Iran's nuclear program was still active, Trump reportedly downplayed the threat: "They got to save face for the country. They still got to appear to be strong," he said, according to Jones.
"He says 'I'm not happy with both of them, but more so Israel,' because he goes, 'It's over, it's done, the program is done,'" Jones added.

The minute I saw this report on Haaretz before the ceasefire officially started, I knew, just knew. Bad faith is putting it lightly.

Israeli authorities vow retaliation after missile sirens blare amid Iran truce
Israeli politicians spoke against Iran after the IDF warned of an incoming missile, an hour after the Israeli government declared a cease-fire.
"Three and a half hours after the U.S. president announced a cease-fire, Iran [fired] toward northern Israel," Israel Beiteinu's Avigdor Lieberman wrote on X. "We must respond immediately."
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that "Tehran will shake."

(3,100 posts)On Truth Social, Trump gave Iran and Israel 6 hours to wind-down. The ceasefiree was to take effect AFTER that 6 hours had elapsed.
Iran fired missiles 3.5 hours after Trump's Truth Social post.
The post was so poorly written, that the 6 hour wind-down could easily be glossed over or obfuscated. Of course Israel manipulated that to claim Iran broke the ceasefire.
Was it poorly written to enable such manipulation? Who knows with Trump. But I knew it would end up exactly where it did, as you did too.

(214 posts)Krasnov's big beautiful cease fire had Iran stopping first and gave Bibi 12 more hours after that. And what's with giving the extra time to complete their missions. Oh for the love of gawd! My head hurts!
The initial six-hour window, which ended at 04:00 GMT, was to allow Iran and Israel to complete their final missions.
Iran would start the ceasefire first at 04:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Israel would follow 12 hours later at 16:00 GMT.
Israel must stick to the ceasefire for 12 hours, after which the ceasefire will be considered to be in full effect.
