This phrase has been used with its Arabic word "infitada" which means resistance or "shaking off."
Yes, it's used often in the context of the military aggression by the Israeli government, but the word itself means to resist -especially in the face of tyranny.
Let's face it: it sounds scarier because it is a foreign word. And because even terrorists and racists have *gasp* used words!
But here's the reality: America is increasingly faced with our own question of infitada, or resistance. In fact, our Supreme Court just doubled down on validating the government's policy on kidnapping and torturing people for what they've previously deemed a civil offense.
Do we continue shunning those who call for the resistance of tyranny and oppression in these forms as we ourselves are increasingly paralyzed with fear to even resist in the smallest way?
Do we cower in the face of unbridled idiocy as our government shits on the rule of law? Or do we, dare I say -globalize the infitada ,against the tyranny we are facing right now? Today? I mean, we can call it "globalize the resistance" if it makes you feel better, but it shouldn't really matter what language it is said in. Are you going to fight all forms of oppression, or sit back while the vice of tyranny slowly crushes you?
Please don't let the wall street journal make that decision for you.
-resist. ✊️
(And vote for candidates that resist the best)
