https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/scotus-removes-due-process-requirement-on-deporations-to-third-countriesThis is one of the worst decisions ever in the Supreme Courts history.
Basically makes it legal for Trump to round up anyone not here legally and send them off in a matter of hours or days with no rights of any kind.

(12,810 posts)Think of the Republicans in the U.S. House, and the U.S. Senate, and the entire U.S. Supreme Court Justices who are all enabling Trump and are all 100% in lock step with the Republican Party.
They are all so short sighted and/or stupid to realize THERE IS NO JUDICIAL OR LEGISLATIVE BRANCHES OF GOVT IN A TYRANNY/DICTATORSHIP.

(954 posts)Trump will have no need for a court after this. Theyve given him immunity from prosecution. Theyve taken away the rights of immigrants, this will also be used to get rid of American citizens. Theyve taken away womens rights, now the senate may bow to him. If they do, he will dispense with them. Some of these idiotic lawmakers better develop some spines or they will find themselves extinct.

(2,834 posts)The president is not subject to the law; the president is above the law; the president may ignore the rule of law in this case the right to due process.
It also runs counter to Plyler v. Doe, the 1982 decision striking down state laws that deny funding to public schools which provide education to undocumented migrant children, reaffirming that those undocumented are entitled to the right to due process and equal protection of the law.

(25,223 posts)Here's the question for anyone supporting this disaster to answer: how are you going to prove your citizenship on the spot to an armed man who hates your guts?
Without due process, the honor bond of our society's institutions, we are nothing beyond the tools in our hands and our willingness to use them.
Above all, do not let the ICE thugs or their allies transport you or anyone you care about anywhere, ever. Any business that hosts federal enforcers cannot be allowed to operate normally. If these agents of exile can do as they will, all is lost.
Oh, who am I kidding. We'll find a way to normalize this new circumstance like we always do. This is not a situation to be resolved internally, not anymore.

(11,691 posts)Remember the date: June 23rd, 2025. The date that the SCOTUS legalized the disappearing of people. People as in you or me or anyone, for absolutely no reason. That is exactly where this is going. Period.
