'No recovery from this': Grand Teton National Park advocates sound alarm bells over possible sell-off
A GOP bill puts public lands for sale. Its effects on Grand Teton National Park could be irreversible.

By Kylie Mohr,
Big Sky Country Contributing Parks Editor
June 20, 2025

Senate Republicans recently proposed the sale of up to 3.29 million acres of public land across 11 Western states. While Grand Teton National Park and other national parks themselves aren’t on the chopping block, large swaths of national forest and Bureau of Land Management lands could potentially be sold and developed.

The Wilderness Society analyzed the reconciliation bill’s limitations and then released a map showing the more than 258 million acres eligible for sale if Senate Republicans’ proposal is included in President Donald Trump’s tax bill.

That includes much of the national forests that surround Grand Teton National Park: the Bridger-Teton National Forest on the east side of Jackson Hole and the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, which directly borders the western side of the Tetons.

..more..

to get out of his grave, round up his rough riders and ride through Washington DC

Trump will deed the land to himself, then sell it off to all the UBER rich Republican Oligarchs for the highest bid, to pad his personal off-shore accounts like nothing he has done so far........

I worry about Yellowstone, becoming covered with Energy companies, tapping into the entire park area for the cheap thermal energy it could provide, not unlike the way the oil industry has raped our country and our oceans........

Quote from the Sierra Club back in the 60's on their beautiful Color Posters: BEAUTIFUL, WASN'T IT.............

One park at a time? It would have the same effect.

I'm so glad my Daddy isn't alive to know this. He loved the outdoors. He taught me so much about our natural resources, that I developed a deep love like he had. This would kill him if he wasn't already dead.

Auction all that land off. Who gives a hoot about public land we only see when we're getting away from it all. While I'm at it, FUCK all the wild creatures who call those places 'what's left of their homes!'

All I care about in 2024-2025 are egg prices and before than in 2016 were emails, the things repeated in the news cycle prior to those elections. Those are and were my top priority above all else!

We essentially have given up the fillibuster because they are using reconciliation for everything. Why isn't this being raised?

Good job Manchin and Synema for saving the fillibuster!

For luxury building for millionaires.Just like all the waterfront. But now waterfront is threatened by flooding from rising Oceans they want mountain property.

I remember reading where Sinclear group had a conference and called all the national forests and parks as wasted land.

Chop all the forests down. Pollute the air. Kill all the wild animals. Throw trash everywhere. Pollute the rivers so that they turn green or brown (or, red even). Make everything that isn't where rich people live look like a fucking landfill.

If billionaires aren't making money from it, who cares? That includes people - What good are you if you aren't producing wealth?

Why would you care about National Parks anyways? Shouldn't you be working? If you can visit a national park, clearly you aren't in the grindset enough! Get back to work so that you can buy more mass-produced shit from Amazon!

We have 5-6 episodes left. The prequels are much better.

It’s a libertarian ideal BUT it’s also conservationist. The Duttons have have protected their valley for 100+ years. The fact that it’s not their land to have is a a regular part. The First Americans are a major component of the show.
