Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia...
Ever since the days of the cave man, one has had a better cave and a better fire and more food than the other. It has always been thus.
Many hundreds of thousands of years later, the struggle remains the same.
But as we look out at the stars, we have become comfortable because we no longer had to struggle as we did just a few decades ago. Most of us had warm homes and good food to eat and means to entertain ourselves. We became complacent.
But the other, they were greedy. They kept accumulating money and power. Until the day came that they decided to declare war on the other side. They had almost all the money and the power they needed to control the peasants and the lower classes that had gotten too comfortable with their lifestyles and social status.
The war never ended. It has always been here. And just like in 1984, they just re-write the history to satisfy their egos and greedy desires, and the next generation will never know the difference.
