I still take everything with a grain of salt. Trying not to over exaggerate the report or underestimate either,

2. China pulling off a sudden attack isnt likely

The necessary buildup would be seen far ahead of time. Pretty hard to hide all the landing ships and the other naval assets that would be needed for an amphibious invasion across the straight.

The other less talked about option is a blockade. But I don't think China has a navy capable of blockading Taiwan....yet.

5. I'm more concerned about the US threatened invasion of Panama and Greenland.

Not to mention expansionist threats aimed at Canada.

The Trump-led US is a tremendous threat to peace and economic development all around the world.
