When do we expect to see 100% + increase in prices?

When do we expect to see 100% + increase in prices?

I'd expect to see at least the 20 % prices to show by now but haven't...

Thx in advance for any input

Car sales are up because of the looming tariffs that haven't been paused is just 1 example. I would think that the existing tariffs should hit in the next month or so once businesses sell through their current inventory..

But they will need more money to continue to float subsequent shipments of inventory.

and had the warehouse/storage space stocked up when they started hearing rumblings of tariffs. I suspect that once that inventory goes, we will see the trump tariffs price increases, most likely by the end of the month. I know a few smaller businesses have already started passing on the costs.
Of course, has supposedly paused most tariffs, but we shall see.

Consequently I don't see huge stockpiles of inventory being something we can count on.

JIT didn't mean zero inventory. At any point in the supply chain; though some companies ran perilously close to zero.
It wasn't even intended to be done with 12 or 24 or even 48 hours of safety stock. But, I saw plenty of that when I was working.
JIT was supposed to consider some strategic factors like customer criticality, total volume of a given product, peak seasonal demand, and so on. Too many companies just looked at reduced inventory carrying costs & days sales on hand. Two factors instead of 10.
The COVID shortages were an example of JIT run amok, managed by people who really didn't understand it.

DHL will call you up for the extra port taxes directly and are really good with that services but they have NOT because this is all fake as shit!!

I'm thinking they want people to continue panic buying so they keep this shit going to stop from going directly into recession.

There's *SOMETHING* wrong, the tariffs aren't being collected.

Average tariffs (trade weighted) are just shy of 30%. Very little of them have been assessed or collected by now. Some part of tariffs will be absorbed by the exporters as price cuts. Other parts will be absorbed by the importer to keep prices competitive. Some gets passed through.

Some untariffed domestically produced products will have price rises from opportunism. In tRump 1.0, tariffs went on washing machines, none on dryers. Result was that dryer prices rose too.

The tariff tax on China goods are effectively an embargo. That makes prices drop (recession, deflation, depression) after a blip up.

The sum of all tariff taxes combined as they stand are projected to be about a 1.0 % hit to GDP. Combine them with goobermint slashes and job cuts and labour market disruptions for a recessionary / depressionary hit to GDP. If important trading partners can't successfully negotiate with the fake negotiator-in-chief then the hit is even bigger.

I expect a bump in inflation for about six months and then deflationary pressures appear.

Trump admin claims there's a "glitch" at collecting tariffs and they're freakin lying !!

DHL not only ships overnight but will call you if they have to collect more taxes at port ... so far ... NOTHING

This is all to invoke front loading or something of the sort

My company imports chemicals from China for raw materials. These are the last orders being placed before being sourced elsewhere and the tariff costs have been included.

https://newrepublic.com/post/193930/ports-not-collecting-trump-tariffs-glitch

Thanks to a technical glitch, Donald Trump’s tariffs haven’t even been collected at U.S. ports.

On Friday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that an entry code in the U.S. system for American ships to use to have their freight exempted from tariffs isn’t working, and “the issue is being reviewed.” As a result, no tariffs are being collected by the U.S. government for the time being.

Our base chemical orders are being marked up the full tariff and plans to buy away. The tariff not being collected is likely a computer issue at the port. That doesn’t mean tariffs will not be owed or that shipments being loaded now will be duty free. Our SAP system takes days to add these additional charges correctly and the tariffs have all been short notice so it’s likely a simple timing issue. These are base chemicals….so if it comes from China and can’t be sourced elsewhere the price is going up.

I only mention the phone chargers because I thought to order them and looked.

The 20% tariffs should've kicked in by now on all items but CPI went down.
