4. Just an observation on my part.

Being selfish only works if most of society isn't selfish.
If everyone was out for themselves, society would fail. Cooperation for the greater good is what allows us to create a society where most people are able to get what they need (as opposed to what they want) to live.
Selfish people rely on the fact that most people aren't inherently selfish, and at least tolerate the selfishness of others. When the application of selfish behavior reaches a certain level in terms of both numbers of people and degree, it becomes destructive to society.
Eventually this becomes the stuff of revolution.
I don't want to see that happen here, but right now the selfish needs of a few are taking so much that all of society is threatened with having their basic needs taken from them.

A successful parasite doesn't kill or even seriously harm it's host. The ultra rich are definitely parasites that don't understand that concept.
