Slotkin's first bill seeks to prevent data-collecting Chinese cars from entering the U.S.

Washington — U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin, introducing her first bill since winning election to the Senate in November, proposed a measure Thursday aimed at preventing Chinese vehicles from entering the United States.

The bill, titled the Connected Vehicle National Security Review Act, would formally establish a national security review process for imports of internet-connected vehicles and components made by companies from China or other countries of concern.

"I will lay down on the border to keep Chinese vehicles from entering the U.S. market. This is my first bill I’m introducing in the Senate, and it’s for a reason," Slotkin, a Holly Democrat, said in a statement.

It's not limited to the Chinese. Would you trust Swasticar data collection?

I remember the days when I bought a telephone whose primary function was to allow me to communicate with other telephones, and cars whose primary function was to allow me to go from one place to another. The world survived just fine. My wife and I hate using credit cards for the same reason. The socialist countries here used to keep so much information on their citizens, they literally drowned in it. Even France under Mitterand, technically more advanced than East Berlin or Bucharest, gave up on the practice after Mitterand was gone. We used to do just fine when that was more work than it was worth. No government needs to have a record of everywhere we go, everyplace we have coffee or tea, every time we bring friends to the Neanderthal, or drive for a walk along the Rhein with friends, or who they are.

Because we allow functionally infinite data collection and sales, the only thing this does is make them buy the data from someone else.
