Step 2: ????
Step 3: money/jobs/MAGA/whatever

There is no reasonable expectation of connecting 1 to 3. Step 2 doesn't exist.

There also aren't any defined goals or victory conditions. No pre-defined way to measure success or failure of the project. It is all bullshit and vibes, nothing reality-based.

1. Step 2 is onshoring manufacturing. But tRump / maga has a problem

It takes a long time for most factories to get designed, financed, built, furbished, put into production. This can be anywhere from 18 months to 5 years.

A maga idiot autoworker from the States was blathering about how car companies can rejig a production line for a different vehicle on the fly without pausing production. But a factory is not simple rejigging.

If selected industries were targeted one a time, the economic might of the US would crush the target and get the fastest on-shoring possible.

But the orange economic genius is attacking them all at the same time, attack all trading partners at the same time, attacking government expenditures at the same time, attacking the labour market at the same time.

It's USA economic self-harm.
