Former Vice President Kamala Harris spoke out for the first time publicly against President Donald Trump and his first few months in office on Thursday at the Leading Women Defined Summit in California.
Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee who lost to Trump in the 2024 election last November, briefly addressed the unprecedented actions taken by the Trump administrationlike bypassing congressional authority to close down agencies, cutting funding for programs already approved, and firing tens of thousands of federal workers, including heads of independent agencies.
The former vice president lamented that despite Trumps actionslargely led by Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and not a federal employeemany have chosen not to condemn Trump publicly.
We are seeing organizations stay quiet. We are seeing those who are capitulating to clearly unconstitutional threats, Harris said at the summit for Black women founded by former BET president Debra Lee. And these are the things that we are witnessing each day in these last few months in our country, and it understandably creates a great sense of fear. Because, you know, there were many things that we knew would happen.

I do have to say that the article is pretty lightweight, but at least she's speaking out.

(8,649 posts)We're the ones who can say "I told you so" because all of this was so obvious that anyone could have seen it coming. Like the two dozen economists who went on record backing her policies over Trump's disastrous intentions.
