The firings come a day after conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer visited the Oval Office and pressed Trump to fire specific NSC staffers. Axios has not confirmed whether the firings were directly linked to that incident, but the source familiar said they were “being labeled as an anti-neocon move.”

The U.S. official named two senior NSC members who had been fired, and said it was shaping up to be a “bloodbath.” Axios is seeking additional confirmation before naming those people.
The source familiar said several people were fired, including senior directors. An NSC spokesperson declined to comment.
He’s having a total meltdown.

that so far rump hadn't fired anyone, not like during Trump 1.0. I think the record holder of 10 days in the position before being fired was Anthony Scaramucci, giving rise to the "Scaramucci Minute" measurement of time.
Trump seems to listen to just anybody that whispers in his ear. I think it's just an excuse to enjoy once again the past glory of inflicting hardship on someone. He loves his, "You're fired!" old days. He likes chaos and pain.
But, do you think he would fire any of those involved in the Signal Gate scandal? He set it up so Waltz could be thrown under the bus, but not if it blows over.
He just likes hurting people, and is easily persuaded. And he doesn't like due process, so they probably got escorted out pretty quickly.
